Welcome to Fremantle Sailing Club Pipes and Drums
Bagpipes have the ability to create a unique atmosphere. This Scottish instrument can be the life of the party or help celebrate someone’s life.Fremantle Sailing Club Pipes and Drums play at many club events. You will find us at Season Opening Days, special balls or formal functions and other parties around the club.
Our section of the club will be seen at public events like ANZAC Day parades and other festivals around Perth, we will be flying the flag for Fremantle Sailing Club. The band is often called to play at other yacht club events around Perth.
We welcome new members to join us. If you have played the bagpipes or snare drum, we would love you to join us. We enjoy our band practice as well as our turnouts; we have a great group of band members that often socialize after turnouts.
Our repertoire is varied with our core tunes consisting of traditional marches and Scottish tunes, as well as seaworthy tunes fit for a Sailing Club. You will enjoy tunes like Scotland the Brave, A Hundred Pipers and other strathspeys and Jigs. We also play favourites like The Flower of Scotland and The Skye Boat Song. These tunes, as a base, compliment the fact that the FSC Pipes & Drums is the only pipe band in the world that is part of a Sailing Club.
If you wish to learn how to play the bagpipes, we have a strong learner’s program under the tuition of the Perth Bagpiper (aka Pipe Major Stuart Bradford). Adult beginners can learn through classes or private lessons. Contact us to find out how you can learn and join us.
Solo pipers or the whole band are available for bookings for your event. If you wish to create a unique atmosphere at a party or festival, we can provide the excitement. We have several tunes suitable for funerals or weddings. Call us to discuss your requirements and the appropriate fee.
Call the section captain, Pipe Major Stuart Bradford, to find out more about the Fremantle Sailing Club Pipes and Drums, we would love for you to be involved.
