The Angling Section is offering all FSC members the chance to earn $100 in a simple challenge – catch a dhufish, pink snapper or tailor and the money could be yours.
Each month the Section’s fishing competition – held on the first Saturday of each month – features a target fish which attracts a $100 prize for the biggest species to go towards the successful angler’s HSS.
The big news is that the August comp, scheduled for August 6, has pink snapper as the target fish, but also will have two carryover fish in dhufish and tailor.
So, this is the perfect opportunity to have a competition with your mates, take the family out or just fly solo in search of the booty.
Any angler can win only one prize, so there are plenty of options available to all anglers to dip a line and fish the comp which has lines down at 7am for a 2pm weigh-in. And, what’s more the comp is open to all FSC members. And entry is free.
The overall winner, the angler with the most points, also gets $100 towards their HSS. Contact field day officer Joe Venter on 0414 316390 for registration details.
Joe won the July competition with 78 points from John Bech on 67 and Ray Wilson on 59. It leaves Ray out in front, 17 points in front of John, with Joe 57 points adrift of the new leader. Chris Walkey – overseas for 10 weeks – remains anchored on 480.
A mixed bag of herring, sand whiting, squid, skippy, king george and flathead highlighted Joe’s July bag while John and Ray managed four nice flatties, a couple of leather jackets and some smaller fry.
