Riding the Winds of the 2026 Wild West Challenge

Published On: June 30, 2026

While the weather may have forced the cancellation of the second race of the Huck Scott Winter Series, it certainly didn’t stop the Dinghy Section from making the most of the day.

With strong and unpredictable winds sweeping across the river, Head Coach Chris Charlwood turned the conditions into the 2026 Wild West Challenge, giving those keen to take on the weather a chance to put their skills to the test.

A small but determined group of sailors embraced the conditions, completing an impressive 12-race series, while those who made the sensible decision to stay ashore played an equally important role, supporting race operations and helping ensure the day ran safely and smoothly. It was another great reminder that every contribution counts, whether you’re on the water or supporting from the shore.

Congratulations to the 2026 Wild West Challenge placegetters:

  • 1st – Harry Cooper
  • 2nd – Connor Grant
  • 3rd – Callum Grant

Well done to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success.

The Huck Scott Winter Series is now set to return on Saturday 25 July and Saturday 22 August. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the water.
