REPAIR ROUND-UP | OCTOBER – DECEMBER 2026

Published On: February 3, 2026

Our small but mighty maintenance team has been busy behind the scenes keeping FSC running smoothly. While some of their projects are easy to spot, plenty of the hard work happens quietly in the background.

This new quarterly Repair Round‑Up gives you a snapshot of just some, though certainly not all the jobs they’ve tackled over the past three months. It’s a great way to celebrate the team’s efforts and keep everyone in the loop on the improvements happening around FSC.

Here’s a round-up of the key works carried out from October to December:

Dinghy Clubhouse Repairs

We’ve strengthened the Dinghy Clubhouse by repairing damaged mortar and blockwork, sealing the walls against salt spray, and repainting corroded steel and timber. Two old breeze-block windows were also bricked in, giving the building extra protection and stability.

Front Gate Landscaping

The front entrance landscaping was refreshed early October. We’ve planted hardy native species that will naturally spread and mature over time, creating an attractive, low-maintenance entrance for our members and guests.

Members Gate #2 Upgrade

The new members gate is fully installed and working smoothly. It offers better security, quicker access and improved reliability, with all existing fobs and keys still working. Despite delays during demolition, the project was completed within budget.

Playground

A brand-new playground was installed just before Christmas, replacing equipment that was no longer safe. Families now have a safer, more enjoyable play space to use throughout the year.

Upgrade to Club Water Supply

Water pipes stretching from the Dinghy Clubhouse, around the Main Clubhouse and as far as the Boatyard have all been replaced, concluding both stages 1 & 2 of the potable water upgrade. The project was delivered on schedule and within the approved budget. Although the works caused some temporary disruption, we thank everyone for their patience. This upgrade significantly enhances the reliability and quality of FSC’s drinking water and ensures the system meets current standards.

Lighting upgrades

Jetty lighting has been upgraded to energy efficient LEDs, giving us brighter and more reliable illumination along the waterfront. Tower lighting has also been upgraded, improving visibility across outdoor areas while reducing long term maintenance. The playground now features new colored lights, making the space brighter, safer and much more welcoming in the evenings.

Sunset Deck Misting System

A new misting system was installed just before Christmas. It uses fine spray nozzles that release a light mist which cools the air as it evaporates. This upgrade makes the deck a more pleasant place for members to relax, especially during our live music, events on those warmer days.

Wi-Fi installed in Boatyard area

Wi-fi is now installed throughout the boatyard, improving connectivity for staff, contractors and members working onsite.

Jetty Life Extension works 2018-Present

Since 2019, our focus has been on extending the lifespan of our jetties through targeted maintenance and renewal. These works rely on weather, tides, contractor availability and support from our dedicated volunteer dive team. Below is a site map which highlights some of the jetty works that have been completed.

NOTE: Headstock remediation works are from 2019 however all other works were completed between OCT-DEC 2025.

Reference to works completed:

  • Headstock remediation: this means repairing the main horizontal beam that sits on top of the piles (the vertical posts in the water).
  • Pile Cap and Box Channel repairs: these are repairs to the top of the mooring pile structures and the horizontal metal sections that support the finger jetties.
  • Pile Denzo Wrapping: this involves wrapping the piles (the posts in the water) with a protective material to stop corrosion.
  • Pile Driving: this is when new piles are driven (pushed) into the seabed to replace damaged ones or when additional support is required.
  • Finger Jetty Renewals: this means renewing or replacing the smaller “finger” walkways between boats.
