IRC RENEWALS

Published On: May 20, 2026

IRC certificates expire on 31 May, and all boats must complete revalidation for the upcoming season starting in September 2026. This is a great opportunity to review and update your boat’s details—such as sails, measurements, or weight—so you may wish to arrange a remeasurement or reweigh now.

Expired certificates from the previous 2025-2026 season may be used for the upcoming winter series until 30th June during the renewal period.

IRC Standard certificates are accepted for racing at Fremantle Sailing Club and provide a more cost-effective option compared to Endorsed certificates, which require a higher level of accuracy and additional cost.

Standard certificates are becoming increasingly popular across Australia, giving sailors an affordable way to compete under an objective rating system rather than a performance handicap. Their widespread global use has helped maintain accessible and sustainable IRC fleets at the grassroots level.

Fremantle Sailing Club events that include IRC racing are the upcoming Winter Series and Valmadre Cup as well as the summer events – Coastal Cup and Success Cup.

Cost of a Standard IRC certificate:

  • $25 per metre for boats under 12m (39ft)
  • $33 per metre for boats from 12m to 18m (59ft)

A non-spinnaker rating is also included on the certificate.

Once your certificate has been issued, please email a copy to the Boating Office:
