Indonesian Ministry of Tourism visits Fremantle Sailing Club

Fremantle to Bali Ocean Race & Rally 2020 has already got 10 registered boats 10 months before the event, including boat Antipodes from Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

Fremantle Sailing Club Board Members and Indonesian Authorities gathered Wednesday, 17th July, during an information dinner to strengthen their relationship, promote Indonesia as a Sailing Destination and also to transfer knowledge related to Indonesian Visas and official steps for all Fremantle to Bali Ocean Race & Rally 2020 participants.

Bill Henson, FSC Rear Commodore Sail conducted the Indonesian Information night which also counted with the presence of FSC Commodore Ron Greer, Vice Commodore Anita Wyntje, Cruising Captain Steve Parkinson and FSC Interim General Manager Dean Logan.

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism Delegation was formed by Dr. Admiral Marsetio (retired), Special Advisor for Maritime, Tikit Wahyuni, Deputy Director of Tourism Development, Heri Retno Indrijani, Assistant to Deputy Director, Raymond Lesmana, Indonesia Yacht Rally Organizer and Mrs. Dewi Gustina Tobing, Indonesian Consul in Perth.

The meeting was held in the same week that Fremantle to Bali Ocean Race & Rally reached 10 official registrations (8 boats for Racing and 2 boats for Rallying). The list of registered boats includes the international vessel Antipodes, coming from Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and the current Western Australian fleet consisting of Circa, Obsession, Fourth Dimension, Endorfin, Kondili, Rebecca Jane II, Lithium, True Blue, and Crush.

“We are really surprised and pleased to have 10 registered boats with 10 months ahead of the Race date. We expect to have a mixed fleet with boats coming from all over Australasia, especially boats and crews from outside the Perth metro area”, says Travis Burtenshaw, Sailing Manager at Fremantle Sailing Club. The registration form is now available online at www.fremantlesailingclub.com.au/bali2020 and an early bird prize is offered until 9th September.
