Fun, Affordable Offshore Racing

The Fremantle Keelboat Racing Section has made several significant changes to the Success Cup Series, aimed at making every race in this offshore series an enjoyable day race, followed by a great social event.

Featuring some of WA’s most iconic short offshore races, including Coventry Reef, Foundation Race and Mandurah Weekend, along with the addition of a revised West Coaster, all races are approximately 45 nautical miles long. This ensures racing is completed during daylight hours, leaving time for competitors to catch up at presentations afterwards.

Having Fun is Number One

  • Open to yachts from all clubs, the series includes two divisions sailing on different length courses, designed to ensure all yachts are back at the Club within an hour of each other and able to participate in the social presentation event before dark.
  • IRC and PHF handicaps are available for both divisions, encouraging all types of boats and levels of competitors.
  • Auto helm is permitted for all boats, so those who are short-handed on the day can still manage manoeuvres requiring an extra set of hands.
  • Introduction of the Club 35 Trophy for boats sailing with crew under 35 years of age, encouraging owners to bring younger participants into the Club.
  • An individual prize will be awarded to the under-35 participants on the winning PHF boat in each division.
  • Two participants aged under 35, along with two female sailors, will be randomly selected to receive prizes during the presentation ceremony.

Affordability is Key

  • Entry is free for all FSC members and has been reduced to $50 per race for sailors from other clubs (from $150 last year).
  • No Association fees need to be paid to compete in the FSC Success Cup.
  • Overnight berthing is available for participating boats from other clubs.
  • All races are Category 4, keeping the cost of required safety gear to a reasonable level.
  • Only Standard IRC certificates are required, removing the cost of obtaining and maintaining an Endorsed IRC certificate. Boats do not need to be weighed, sails do not require measurement certificates attached, and most measurements for a Standard certificate can be completed by the owner.
