We are proud to congratulate Honourable Robert (Bob) Kucera on being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours, recognising his significant service to the Western Australian community.

Bob’s career reflects decades of leadership across policing, public service, government, and community organisations. Rising to Assistant Commissioner with the Western Australia Police before serving in State Parliament, he held key ministerial portfolios including Health, Sport and Recreation, Tourism, Seniors, and Disability Services. Throughout his career, he has contributed to improving lives and strengthening community outcomes.

While his broader achievements are substantial, Bob’s impact within the sailing community, particularly at Fremantle Sailing Club, is especially meaningful. As Commodore from 2012 to 2014, he guided the Club with dedication, supporting its continued growth and success.

His involvement with FSC extends beyond his Commodore term. From 2010 to 2016, Bob served on the Board of Management in roles including Board Member and Vice Commodore and has continued to share his experience and insight. This sustained involvement reflects his strong connection to the Club and its members.

Bob’s long-standing involvement in sport demonstrates his support for community participation. His contribution has been part of the strong sense of connection that defines Fremantle Sailing Club.

His AM appointment is a fitting recognition of a lifetime of service. It reflects the integrity, generosity, and leadership we value deeply at Fremantle Sailing Club.

We warmly congratulate Bob on this well-deserved honour and are proud to call him one of our own.
