A Great Start to the Club Lunch Series 2026

Published On: March 30, 2026

Our first Club Lunch of the year took place on Wednesday 25 March in the Wardroom, welcoming 55 members, guests and visitors for a really lovely afternoon at the Club.

Guests arriving and settling in as the Wardroom begins to fill for the first Club Lunch of 2026.

The afternoon began with a drink on arrival, giving everyone time to settle in and catch up, all with that beautiful marina outlook as the backdrop.

A special moment of the day was the Commodore’s address, recognising the incredible contribution of Julee Brown, Ann John and Heather Timms to the Club Lunch series over many years.

Julee has been part of these lunches for over 25 years, originally running them on her own before Ann joined her behind the scenes, and later Heather came on board to support. Together, they’ve poured so much time, care and energy into these events, helping shape them into such a well-loved part of the Club calendar. It was a really nice moment to pause and say thank you, with flowers presented to each of them.

We then heard from guest speaker Cameron Wrathall, who shared a powerful and honest account of his journey through a life-changing experience. It was engaging, moving and incredibly well received by everyone in the room.

From there, guests enjoyed a generous buffet lunch, with the room full of lively conversation and a great sense of connection throughout the afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a great start to the 2026 Club Lunch series. We’re already looking forward to the next one on Wednesday 24 June, with more details to be shared in the next few weeks in From the Deck.

A big thank you as well to our guest speaker Cameron Wrathall for sharing his story, and to everyone who took the time to complete a feedback form. It really helps us shape upcoming events. Congratulations to Frances Hammond, winner of the wine.
