Clash in the Canyon | Swordfish Competition 2026
Competition briefing night set for Saturday 27 June as preparations begin for the 2026 season.
After a hugely successful inaugural season, Clash in the Canyon is back, with preparations now underway for the 2026 Sword Competition.
Jointly hosted by Fremantle Sailing Club Game Fishing Section and Perth Game Fishing Club, the competition returns following a standout first year that saw 25 boats and 68 anglers fishing waters from Cape Naturaliste to Jurien Bay in pursuit of swordfish.
Across the six-month competition, 32 swordfish were hooked and 15 landed, with fish ranging from a 10kg release to an impressive 140kg catch. Back at the Club, weigh-ins quickly became a highlight, drawing members, family and friends down to the marina gantry to watch the action and enjoy fresh swordfish prepared at the Galley.
With the 2026 season now taking shape, competitors, crew and Game Fishing members are invited to attend the official Clash in the Canyon briefing night on Saturday 27 June.
The session will cover this year’s competition format, rules, key dates, safety requirements and what to expect for the season ahead. Whether you’re returning for another season or keen to get involved for the first time, it’s a great opportunity to get across everything you need to know before lines hit the water.
