The Bosun Section offers a fantastic opportunity for all Club members especially those who may not own a boat or regularly crew to get actively involved in the life of the Fremantle Sailing Club.

This friendly, hands-on group brings together passionate, long-serving members who love to share their knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for all things nautical. Whether you’re new to the Club or a seasoned member, you’re welcome to join the camaraderie and contribute to a variety of maintenance and care activities around the Club.

The Bosuns Shed is generally open from 8:30am on weekdays, depending on member availability, with regular tasks carried out to help keep the Club running smoothly.

Come aboard, there’s always something to do and a great crew to do it with!

Our section meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month at 8:30am, following a casual breakfast in the Bosun Shed.

The Bosun Section is responsible for the management and maintenance of Fremantle Sailing Club’s fleet. This dedicated team of volunteers ensures our vessels are safe, seaworthy, and ready for use across Club activities.

The current fleet includes:

• Two moored boats – Success and Max Shean
• Three Gemini RIBs
• Four SB20s
• Six Puffin Pacers
• Two inflatable dinghies
• Two aluminium dinghies

Beyond day-to-day maintenance, the Bosun Section also provides a skilled team of skippers and crew who oversee the acquisition, construction, installation, and upkeep of:

• Permanent spar racing buoys
• Inflatable racing buoys
• Ground tackle and mooring equipment
• Training boats and gear for the Dinghy and Junior Sections

In addition to maintenance, the Bosun Section offers Club Members opportunities to build their boating knowledge and marine skills through hands-on learning in areas such as:

• Boat handling
• Seamanship
• Basic navigation
• Marine chart interpretation
• Splicing and rigging
• Marine engine maintenance

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a keen learner, the Bosun Section is a great way to get involved and contribute
to the heart of the Club.
